Tottenham Hotspurs and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement for the fee of Harry Kane’s transfer, reported The Athletic on Thursday.
The clubs have been in talks for weeks but never came closer to an agreement as two of Bayern’s initial bids of £70 and £85 million were refused by Tottenham’s chairman Daniel Levy.
However, Bayern upped their bid and as per the details, a deal close to £100m is agreed.
Although Levy values Kane around £120m as he is arguably the greatest player in Tottenham’s history but with just a year left in his contract, a £100m deal is likely to take place in order to avoid losing him for free next summer.
Everything now depends on the footballer, it is up to him if he wants to leave his boyhood club and join Bayern where he can compete for the UEFA Champions League (UCL) title or not.
Bayern, who sold their primary striker Robert Lewandowski to FC Barcelona in 2022, spent the entire previous season with only one natural striker in Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
With the signing of the Englishman, Bayern will be able to fill the hole that was left wide-open by the departure of the Polish striker who scored 344 goals in 375 matches for the German club while also winning the UCL title in 2020 where they defeated Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in the final 1-0 at Estadio da Luiz, Portugal.
Kane notched up 307 goals and 80 assists in 514 club appearances, so far, over the course of his career.
He also became the first player to score in 25 different matches in a 38-game Premier League in the 2022-23 season.
It must be noted that Kane is the second-highest goal scorer in the Premier League (PL) history. With 213 goals, he is only 47 goals behind the top scorer Alan Shearer who scored 260 goals in his staggering career.
However, as it stands, it is likely that Kane will give up on his dream of becoming an all-time PL goalscorer.
